Indigenous philanthropy, or practices of gifting and sharing, are not new. For Indigenous peoples and Nations, gifting and sharing (or philanthropy) continue to be integral practices that uphold Indigenous laws and ceremonies and fulfill responsibilities to human and non-human relatives. Indigenous people, Nations, and organizations are adopting a range of models and structures to revitalize and sustain practices of Indigenous philanthropy that are central to community wellbeing and resilience. Through this panel, attendees will be introduced to several Indigenous philanthropic leaders and gain deeper insights into Indigenous approaches to philanthropy and the essential role these organizations play in leading far reaching socio-economic impact.
